Have you ever had therapy with an elf???

When I tell people I’m a therapist, their first question is often “isn’t it depressing listening to people’s problems all day long!?”

My answer tends to be “No”.

It’s actually curiously life-affirming.

Because people are all fascinating and all resilient and admirable in different ways.

What it *does* do is help me understand how important it is to enjoy the lighter side of life.

To play. And to be silly.

Because, (continuing the Christmas theme…) as a wise man (Jeremy Posnansky KC) once said to me, you absolutely *must* celebrate the good stuff in life.

And experiencing and supporting people with the darker side of life makes that celebration of the good stuff feel more urgent than ever.

Particularly, for me, as we face our first Christmas without my dear dad.

So here’s me being silly and looking like a plonker as an elf as our twins’ school Christmas fair yesterday.

And no that’s not Adam Carvalho TEP as Santa

And yes, I will be keeping the elf boots

Well done to Christine Collins for organising a great fair. And to Cliff Waddicor for being a fantastic Santa.
