Individual Therapy

At TCC, we offer counselling and psychotherapy to support you in your work and in your life.

We specialise in supporting lawyers and those involved in legal processes, drawing on our own experiences from that world.

You can choose from one of our three therapists; Annmarie Carvalho, Kate Hall or Tim Rice. While we each offer different specialisms and experience, we share the same ethos.

We also provide therapeutic supervision for lawyers.

Annmarie's style is engaging, insightful, balanced, calm and non-judgemental, mixed with great intellect and humour. I highly recommend working with her.'

Annmarie

Life is all about relationships: with ourselves and with others.

So a lot of therapy is about taking an honest look at our relationships and changing what’s no longer working for us.

In therapy, we look at our relationship with ourselves and also with others, whether that’s at work or home (or both).  I often work with clients on attachment styles that form in childhood and which affect our lives as adults. I also work with various forms of addiction, and have a particular interest in alcoholism, co-dependency, love and relationship addiction.

My style of counselling has a strong coaching element to it. One of my favourite techniques is Motivational Interviewing; a highly effective technique for helping clients to work towards change. My style is innovative and practical and offers great results.

'I can truly say that the experience of working with Annmarie was life-changing and now I feel I have the emotional tools to face new challenges in the future.'

I work with individuals who are dealing with anxiety or stress in their daily life, at home or at work. I specialise in those having difficulties with relationships.

These might be:

I provide a safe, supportive setting within which to explore your challenges and perhaps the link with early experience. With me, you can discover better ways of coping and bringing about the positive change you want in your life.

Kate

I am a psychodynamic therapist and specialise in supporting people through stresses and difficulties in life, including change, bereavement and grief.

I provide both short-term and long-term therapy sessions.

Working psychodynamically means that we look at your thoughts and feelings in the present and explore and make sense of them in relation to past relationships and early experiences.

You may be looking for help for a specific issue, such as the loss of a loved one, the ending of a relationship, have feelings of anxiety or low mood at work, or struggle to create boundaries for yourself between your work and personal life.

My therapeutic practice is informed by my experience of working as a family lawyer for over a decade and as a family mediator. I am passionate about supporting lawyers therapeutically, whether it’s about exploring feelings of unfulfillment, managing stress more effectively, or trying to navigate an event or transition in your personal life alongside the demands of being a lawyer.

Annmarie's Approach

Life is all about relationships: with ourselves and with others.

So a lot of therapy is about taking an honest look at our relationships and modifying what’s no longer working for us.

I look with clients at relationships of all kinds, professional and personal and how we interact with others. I also often work with clients on attachment styles that form in childhood and which affect our lives as adults. I am experienced with working with various forms of addiction, with a particular interest in alcoholism, co-dependency, love and relationship addiction.

I combine different theories and styles from various areas of therapy. Exactly how I do that in each case depends on what’s best for the individual client.

One of my favourite ways of working is to use Motivational Interviewing; a highly effective and modern technique for helping clients to work towards change. I love working in this innovative, practical style which offers great results.

I can truly say that the experience of working with Annmarie was life-changing and now I feel I have the emotional tools to face new challenges in the future.
