What do you think?
I was reading at the weekend about Parent Mental Health Day, which fell on 27 January.
Never heard of it? That might be because it only started in 2022.
If you’re thinking “Why on earth do we need yet another ‘day’ for something?“ then consider this:
Living through and in the aftermath of a pandemic…
Where to even start with this?
Well, the associated factors and after-effects include:
The stress of home-schooling while holding down a job
Increase in mental health issues in children, particularly anxiety
The cost of living crisis
A sharp reduction in the availability of mental health services
Stresses and strains on parental relationships and marriages, some resulting in breakups
An increase in chronic illnesses, including long covid…
So yes, I do think we need “yet another day” for something.
And this is an important one.
At The Carvalho Consultancy we pride ourselves on our relatability.
We do not talk down to our therapy and coaching clients from some serene hilltop.
We are in the trenches with you! (In my case literally, with three young kids and all the ups and downs that brings…)
We just have some tools, techniques and life experience to help you with your struggles.
And huge amounts of empathy given we’ve lived through these things ourselves.
I have no shame in saying I’ve cried on my boys’ teachers’ shoulders a few times.
When the pressures of our twins’ particular needs, the challenges of managing those alongside having a baby, a business to run and a bereavement have got a bit much.
We all need a helping hand sometimes.
So, if you’re thinking of talking to someone, why not try us?
Because we get it.
