The multi-award winning Carvalho Consultancy is thrilled to welcome Katie McKenna to their team bringing its expertise in therapy, coaching, and training to Scotland. TCC understands the high-pressure environment of legal practice and the unique challenges faced by solicitors, advocates, and legal professionals – as their therapists, coaches and trainers are former lawyers themselves.
Katie is a trauma-informed psychotherapist with deep roots in the Scottish legal profession. Katie enjoyed a varied career with Harper Macleod, Digby Brown, and the Law Society of Scotland. Even during her legal career, she championed the wellbeing of her peers through her integral involvement in Lawscot Wellbeing and as a passionate advocate for LawCare, where she continues to volunteer on their helpline.
Katie has since earned a Master’s in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (with distinction) and brings extensive experience from placements with a rape and sexual abuse centre and an LGBT+ service. Her trauma-informed approach ensures a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their challenges and find meaningful solutions. Her Master’s research, focused on attitudes toward counselling within the solicitor profession, underscores her commitment to understanding and addressing the unique pressures faced by lawyers.
Founder of The Carvalho Consultancy, Annmarie Carvalho, stated “Katie’s appointment is “a perfect fit for our growing team and her experience and understanding of trauma-informed therapy will be so vital to our client offering”
