Coming Autumn 2025: Staying Sane in Family Law

A Survival Guide for Lawyers Working in the Most Emotionally Charged Practice Area

Our founder, Annmarie’s debut book, Staying Sane in Family Law, is set for release on 30 September 2025 published by Bath Publishing. It’s a deeply practical and refreshingly honest guide for anyone in the family law world on how to navigate the emotional intensity of practice (with a big dollop of humour!). Family law asks a lot of lawyers - compassion, clarity, resilience, emotional control, and mental stamina. Burnout, vicarious trauma and overwhelm are often part of the job. This book helps you stay steady, human, and effective in the middle of it all. Inside, she shares:

  • Tools to protect your mental health
  • Strategies for building emotional resilience
  • Ways to keep boundaries with difficult or distressed clients
  • Real-world stories from the frontline (Annmarie's included)

Whether you’re just starting out or have decades of experience, this book will help you not just survive, but thrive in family law. Click here to come to a seminar (and get a free book!) - Attend the seminar

Yes, it’s time to get “delighted” again…I’m absolutely thrilled to share that The Carvalho Consultancy has been shortlisted for two awards at the LexisNexis UK Legal Awards 2025!Our amazing team is in the running for the Legal Supplier Innovation Award for our unique blend of therapeutic supervision, therapy, coaching, and training designed specifically for lawyers – because, well, we’ve walked in your shoes. And (brace yourselves) I have somehow found myself shortlisted for Legal Personality of the Year! This has me feeling a bit like Sally Field at the Oscars: “You like me! You really like me!”Of course, this award is voted for by the public… so prepare yourselves for the inevitable wave of begging posts next week. Although now I’m panicking slightly – what if this actually proves that you don’t like me when it’s revealed I only got one vote… and that vote was from my mum, who had to post it by letter because she doesn’t understand the internet? But honestly, jokes aside, we’re so proud to have our work recognised in this way. Thank you to everyone who has supported us. We’re looking forward to celebrating with all the other amazing finalists at the awards in March. London, here we come!
