A Survival Guide for Lawyers Working in the Most Emotionally Charged Practice Area
Our founder, Annmarie’s debut book, Staying Sane in Family Law, is set for release on 30 September 2025 published by Bath Publishing. It’s a deeply practical and refreshingly honest guide for anyone in the family law world on how to navigate the emotional intensity of practice (with a big dollop of humour!). Family law asks a lot of lawyers - compassion, clarity, resilience, emotional control, and mental stamina. Burnout, vicarious trauma and overwhelm are often part of the job. This book helps you stay steady, human, and effective in the middle of it all. Inside, she shares:

This Wednesday, the Family Law Awards 2024 will take place, and I couldn’t be more excited (and maybe just a little nervous!) to be shortlisted for Family Law Champion of the Year. It’s such an honour to be recognised alongside some incredible colleagues in the family law world, and I’m truly humbled by the journey that’s brought me here. For me, this nomination isn’t just about an award it’s about shining a light on the importance of integrating psychology into family law. It’s about ensuring practitioners feel supported, informed, and equipped to handle the challenges of their work. As the big night approaches, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who’s supported me, worked with me, or even just resonated with my mission to bring the worlds of family law and psychology closer together. If you voted for me thank you! Knowing so many of you believe in this cause means the world. If not, don’t worry it’s out of our hands now, and I’ll be celebrating just being part of such an incredible group. Whatever happens on Wednesday, I’m so proud to be part of a community that’s striving to make family law a better, healthier, and more human-centred space. Good luck to all the finalists - see you at the awards! ✨
