Coming Autumn 2025: Staying Sane in Family Law

A Survival Guide for Lawyers Working in the Most Emotionally Charged Practice Area

Our founder, Annmarie’s debut book, Staying Sane in Family Law, is set for release on 30 September 2025 published by Bath Publishing. It’s a deeply practical and refreshingly honest guide for anyone in the family law world on how to navigate the emotional intensity of practice (with a big dollop of humour!). Family law asks a lot of lawyers - compassion, clarity, resilience, emotional control, and mental stamina. Burnout, vicarious trauma and overwhelm are often part of the job. This book helps you stay steady, human, and effective in the middle of it all. Inside, she shares:

  • Tools to protect your mental health
  • Strategies for building emotional resilience
  • Ways to keep boundaries with difficult or distressed clients
  • Real-world stories from the frontline (Annmarie's included)

Whether you’re just starting out or have decades of experience, this book will help you not just survive, but thrive in family law. Click here to come to a seminar (and get a free book!) - Attend the seminar

Integrative Psychotherapist

Bhavesh Kotecha

I’m an integrative psychotherapist (BACP-registered) with a professional background as a chartered accountant, having begun my career at Deloitte LLP. Alongside my therapy practice, I also work as a consultant within the charity sector. My career has consistently brought me into contact with people from a wide range of cultural, social, and professional backgrounds - an experience that continues to shape my therapeutic approach today.

Cultural identity plays a central role in how we experience the world - in our relationships, careers, self-worth, and sense of belonging. As someone who has navigated multiple professional and personal identities, I am deeply attuned to the subtle ways our various identities influence how we show up in life, and in therapy. I bring a sensitive and nuanced perspective to my work, recognising that no two stories are alike, and that culture can be both a source of strength and complexity.

Having spent over a decade in professional services, I understand the unspoken pressures and expectations that can arise in high-performance environments such as law, finance, and consulting. I work with clients who are often high-achieving but inwardly struggling with identity, disconnection, burnout, or a sense of misalignment between who they are and what is expected of them.

In therapy, I offer a reflective, collaborative space where you can safely bring your whole self, not just the parts that feel acceptable or polished. Whether you're grappling with a specific issue, feeling emotionally stuck, or sensing that something deeper needs attention, we’ll work together to explore what’s emerging at your pace. I aim to foster insight and resilience through curiosity, challenge, and compassion.

My approach is warm, grounded, and relational. I tailor our work to you - integrating creativity and depth with the practicalities of real life. I understand what it means to hold multiple roles in the world and I bring a sincere respect for the personal and cultural narratives that have shaped who you are.

I am also a counselling skills tutor, mental health trainer and mentor to young entrepreneurs - but I gain the most pleasure from being a father to two energetic teenage boys and releasing my inner child!
