Coming Autumn 2025: Staying Sane in Family Law

A Survival Guide for Lawyers Working in the Most Emotionally Charged Practice Area

Our founder, Annmarie’s debut book, Staying Sane in Family Law, is set for release on 30 September 2025 published by Bath Publishing. It’s a deeply practical and refreshingly honest guide for anyone in the family law world on how to navigate the emotional intensity of practice (with a big dollop of humour!). Family law asks a lot of lawyers - compassion, clarity, resilience, emotional control, and mental stamina. Burnout, vicarious trauma and overwhelm are often part of the job. This book helps you stay steady, human, and effective in the middle of it all. Inside, she shares:

  • Tools to protect your mental health
  • Strategies for building emotional resilience
  • Ways to keep boundaries with difficult or distressed clients
  • Real-world stories from the frontline (Annmarie's included)

Whether you’re just starting out or have decades of experience, this book will help you not just survive, but thrive in family law. Click here to come to a seminar (and get a free book!) - Attend the seminar

Founder & CEO

Annmarie Carvalho

“I feel passionately that the best people to help you, whether via therapy, training or coaching, are those who’ve walked in your shoes.”

I am TCC’s founder, CEO and Director of Training. I am also an author of the forthcoming book ‘Staying Sane in Family Law’.

Ann marie sat at the table

Before training to become a therapist and founding TCC in 2018, I spent over a decade as a family law solicitor and mediator at Farrer & Co, one of London’s top law firms.

That front-line experience in the legal profession gave me a deep understanding of what it means to operate in high-stakes, intense environments, while trying to manage the business of being human!

It was my fascination with bringing humanity to high pressure environments that led me to create TCC.

Every member of our team is a seasoned expert who has worked in high-performance industries themselves. We understand the culture, language and challenges and bring realism and credibility to our work.

I am proud of what we have created at TCC. Yes, we have won awards but what matters above everything else is the way we conduct ourselves with our clients. We care deeply and that comes across.

Alongside providing therapy, career coaching and therapeutic supervision, I lead TCC’s in-demand training programmes helping professionals to work in psychologically-informed ways.

When you work with me, you will see there is no glossy work ‘persona’. I am warm, down-to-earth, flawed and human.

I’m not afraid to talk about the messy stuff - or to acknowledge my own. I believe emotional honesty, practical tools, and a wicked sense of humour go a long way.

When I’m not working, I’m usually reading, watching a rubbish rom com or attempting, alongside my husband, to look like a competent parent to our three high-octane children and one low-octane pug.

*Due to the continuing growth of TCC, I’m currently only accepting new therapy appointments from existing clients with regular, ongoing bookings.

If you are new to TCC, please contact us, and we’ll recommend a trusted therapist or coach from our network who suits your needs.
